Best Couples Photoshoot Locations in Lisbon
Lisbon is well known for its warm and (almost) always sunny weather as well as for its delicious food and wine. Besides that, the fact that it is such a beautiful city with so many different Sightseeings to explore and so rich in history makes this a top destination for couples looking for a little European adventure. Now, we all know vacations hold hands with photoshoots, right? And that’s why today’s article is all about the best couples photoshoot locations in Lisbon!
Before we dive in, I would like to welcome you to Lisbon! You’ll love every corner of it!
Belém
Belém is not an obvious choice which is why it is my top suggestion for couples photoshoots in Lisbon. Here are some pros:
Less crowds = opportunity to relax and enjoy the experience
Wider areas = less interruptions and more privacy, away from other people
Several points of interest with many monuments tight with the Discoveries which are a huge part of Portuguese history and culture ‘til this day
The home for the best (and original) pastel de nata = a gastronomic experience within your photoshoot experience
By the Tagus river = beautiful Sightseeings (including a first row to watch 25 de Abril bridge) and the most beautiful sunset that Lisbon has to offer
Less known = your photos will be different than the photos of 99% of the people who decides to do a couples photoshoot in Lisbon
Bonus point: direct tram from Lisbon downtown and several other public transportation options makes this an easy to reach location (if you rent a car, parking in Bel’em is also free, contrary to the rest of the city)
If you want something that screams “Portugal”, easy to reach and without the mess, loud and crowds, Belém definitely is your better choice!

Sintra
I might be biased here as Sintra has my heart. It is probably the most beautiful place in Lisbon, with an enchantment of its own. Romantic, whimsical and surrounded by pure nature, Sintra might well be the perfect location for a romantic couples photoshoot while in Lisbon — especially if you have some very important question to pop to your partner (aka proposal).
You have 3 options when it comes to the best couples photoshoot locations in Sintra:
You can either explore the most romantic village and all its hidden gems — there are many, believe me —, visit some palace or castle (be aware that some places do not allow photoshoots but many do. Those who allow require an extra fee to do so) — or go explore the the mountains and immerse yourselves in the very unique weather of Sintra that makes it so whimsical.
If you are looking to plan a proposal in Lisbon, I would definitely suggest Sintra as the ideal location to do so. And if you appreciate intimacy and privacy, then the mountains are the best choice for you!

Cascais
Well known for its beaches and the scenery, Cascais is a small fishing village that evolved over the years to become one of the most expensive places to live in Lisbon (district). To reach it you must take a train at Cais do Sodré (Lisbon downtown) and enjoy the ride that will follow along the river until the ocean. An infinite number of beaches will be your view from the window and just 40 minutes latter, you will reach your final destination: Cascais.
The ride itself is already worth the experience but there are many little corners worth exploring in Cascais. Boca do Inferno (Hell’s Mouth) is one of those. It is the place where ocean and land meet and, most of the times, you can see from very close how the sea can be violent. It is — often — windy but it is also really cool!
The village itself is also very picturesque and worth some exploration during your couples photoshoot. It is usually not overcrowded and you can even put your finger in the sand and see how cold the water is (or isn’t).

Lisbon Downtown
Last, but not least, there’s Lisbon Downtown. This is, obviously, the top and most well known place for photoshoots in Lisbon. And not only that, it is also the most known destination when it comes to “what to visit in Lisbon” so you can expect it to be crowded, loud and hectic, especially if you visit Lisbon in high seasons such as summer, Christmas/New Year’s or even Easter.
Streets are usually narrow which can add a bit of stress to your photoshoot experience as privacy won’t be possible for most of the time. Now, there are some hidden gems where you can still immerse yourselves in the culture whilst enjoying some silence and privacy. Typical neighborhoods such as Mouraria and Alfama are good at providing this. The key here is to avoid the main streets and explore the secondary ones.
Hope this was helpful and wishing you a wonderful adventure and experience in Lisbon!
Love,
Patricia
